For decades, the 'downtown' of any city was the simple manifestation of a bounded social and commercial structure. Living downtown was efficient, functional, and desirable. Families, the elderly, young couples, rich and poor alike all lived in or near where they worked and where the goods and services they needed were provided. But today, with the rise of suburbanization, a significant part our downtowns have eroded into decay, blight and/or obsolescence. Empty storefronts, vacant structures, and a variety of left over contamination is its legacy and the last forty years have shown how quickly substantial areas can be abandoned.

Today, the J.E. Johnson Development Group, LLC strongly feels that those trends need to be reversed and we diligently work to identify potential redevelopment and revitalization projects in all types of communities, large and small. Our approach is one that promotes the creation of a public/private partnership that facilitates historic restoration wherever possible and the development of diverse and vibrant mixed-use structures and communities. In each project, our goal is to restore, rehabilitate, and reuse our treasured historic structures; clean up our blighted and contaminated sites; create a stable and appreciating tax base for a municipality; and promote further private sector investment and development through the rehabilitation of these devastated sites. We begin by identifying economic development opportunities in individual communities. Coordinating through and working directly with a municipality's management team, we provide a complete spectrum of Consulting Services which are based on sound and creative financial planning; detailed and accurate market analysis; and the incorporation of governmental support programs, incentives, and grants from which a viable project can be created. Secondly, we provide complete, professionally stamped and licensed Design, Architectural, and Engineering Services in all trades and disciplines to, in essence, create the vision of what the completed project will look like (including all necessary budgetary and cost analyses requirements). Lastly, we deliver the project on time and within budget through Construction and Construction Management Services. We provide an expert on site management team to oversee and coordinate all project build-out applications to insure a timely and high quality finished product.
